In Loving Memory of

Gwen Garnham

(7th February 1924 - 2nd April 2026)

A Life Full of Love, Family, and Cherished Memories

Gwendolen Robinson was born into a loving family as the youngest child of Thomas Sydney Robinson and Eliza Elizabeth Robinson, joining her elder sister Violet and brother Sydney. From her earliest days, Gwen’s life was shaped by family, warmth, and simple joys.

She spent her childhood in Eastville near Boston, living beside a railway station where her father worked as a railway signalman, while her mother, Lizzie, was a devoted housewife who created a caring home. At the age of eleven, Gwen moved with her family to Elsham — a place where many of her fondest memories were formed.

During the years of the Second World War, Gwen met Jack Garnham, and their love story began. They married on 10th May 1945, building a life together filled with devotion and family. Gwen became a caring and loving mother to her three daughters — Shirley, Pauline, and Pamela — and later opened her heart even further by fostering Diane, Shirley’s school friend, showing the depth of her kindness and generosity.

Gwen and Jack went on to spend 40 wonderful years living in South Lambeth, London, where they built their home and raised their family, creating a lifetime of memories together. When Jack retired, they returned to Boston, Lincolnshire, settling in Ward Crescent. This chapter brought Gwen back closer to her roots, allowing her to reconnect with many cherished family members.

Gwen’s life was filled with warmth, laughter, and memorable moments. As a young woman, she once tried to impress her cousin Ron by riding her bike with no hands — only to fall into a bed of nettles, much to his amusement. She enjoyed simple pleasures, including family trips to Skegness, and created a home full of love and care for her children.

As the years went on, Gwen’s greatest joy became her growing family. She was a proud grandmother to Lesley, Deborah, Melanie, Adam, Paul, Shelley, and Matthew, and she treasured every moment spent with them — whether taking them on trips to London or visiting them in their own homes. Her love continued to grow across generations, as she was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

After Jack’s passing, Gwen continued to live independently, showing her strength and resilience. In 2019, she moved to Folkestone to be closer to family and receive the support she needed — surrounded, as always, by her loving family.

Gwen had her own unique charm and interests — she was a great fan of Gareth Gates and loved Jason Donovan, and she was rarely without her trusty handkerchief, a small but constant part of who she was.

Gwen lived an incredible 102 years, a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. On 2nd April 2026, we said goodbye to a truly remarkable woman. Though she is no longer with us, her love, her stories, and her spirit will live on through every generation she touched.

Gwen will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
